Penza, 9 February 2016. PenzaNews. The senior staff of the Penza region traffic police department has allowed to organize road crossing traffic violations control using unmarked police cars.

A total of 21 traffic accidents involving pedestrians on road crossings were registered in January 2016, the press service of the regional traffic police department informed PenzaNews agency.

“In the central city alone, 15 people were hit by cars on road crossings, which is 71% of the total figure,” they clarified.

As the press office added, the traffic police increased the number of officers on guard during pedestrian traffic rush hours to upgrade the road crossing traffic violations monitoring.

“In accordance with Art. 12.18 of the Administrative Code, ‘Failure to Give Priority in Traffic to Pedestrians or to Other Traffic,’ such violations may incur administrative fine of 1,500 rubles,” the traffic police department said.
