The public defender presented a report on her work so far since the beginning of her service in the office during the meeting with the governor Ivan Belozertsev on Tuesday, February 9.
According to Elena Stolyarova, majority of requests are related to defining the residence of a child after a parents’ divorce, providing timely social aid to low-income families, restoring the rights for survivor benefit pensions, and protection of housing rights for children from big families.
Over 84% of the requests received positive reaction, while others are being reviewed, Elena Stolyarova noted.
In turn, Ivan Belozertsev stressed that protection of children’s rights largely depends on professional skills of various state organizations who are working with families.
“Formal approach must be eradicated in this work, as there are families, children and their fates behind each request,” said the head of the region.
At the end of the meeting, the governor proposed the children’s rights ombudsman to establish strong cooperation with all government bodies involved in work with children, says the press service of the Penza region government.
