Penza region rabbit livestock quadruples over 10 years

Penza, 11 February 2016. PenzaNews. The rabbit livestock in the Penza region has quadrupled over the past 10 years, announced Vladislav Shinyaev, head of the Target Project Development, Agricultural Business and Agricultural Tourism Department in the farming sector of the regional Agriculture Ministry.

“As of 1 February 2016, there are 98,393 rabbits in livestock farms of all categories in the Penza region, which is 3,574 animals more than in 2014. A total of 332.6 tons of rabbit meat has been produced in 2015,” he clarified during the educational seminar held in the Penza State Agricultural Academy on Wednesday, February 10.
According to Vyacheslav Shinayev, the most rabbits can be found in livestock farms of the Mokshansk, Kamenka and Penza areas of the region.
During the seminar, he also cited the private farm of Vladimir Mochalov and the rabbit breeding project by the farmer Dmitry Zakharov as successful examples, the press service of the regional government told PenzaNews agency.
