The open and covert police measures undertaking to curb illegal gambling in the Penza region do not yield the expected results, announced Yuri Ruzlyaev, head of the Penza region Ministry of the Interior department, in his 2015 report during the 33rd regular session of the regional Legislative Assembly on Friday, February 12.

“25 gambling parlors were closed down, about 200 gambling machines were seized,” he said in his speech about the results of work during the past year.
Yuri Ruzlyaev pointed out that the issue related to holding responsible the people providing the premises for gambling parlors still remains unresolved.
“Due to a lack of effective legal usage in this field, the facts resulted only in four criminal cases on organization and management of illegal gambling, out of which only one was sent to the court and the orchestrator was sentenced to a fine od 25,000 rubles – which a single gambling den can gross over two hours. We need to introduce the legislation to outline the forms of illegal activity in this field that would allow the law enforcement to hold lawbreakers liable. I hope you will show your support in this issue,” the head of the regional Ministry of the Interior department addressed the Legislative Assemblyd deputies.
