Penza cafe director fined 150,000 rubles for attempting to bribe police officer

Penza, 20 February 2016. PenzaNews. A director of a Penza cafe on Experimentalnaya street has been sentenced to a fine of 150,000 rubles for offering a bribe to a police officer.

“The court and investigation found that in November 2015, an operative check of the cafe uncovered a violation, as alcoholic beverages were sold in the organization without a license. As a result, the present alcoholic goods were seized, and the director of the cafe potentially were to face an administrative penalty,” Lyudmila Fomina, Senior Assistant of the Head of the Investigative Department of the city Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, told PenzaNews agency.
In an attempt to escape administrative liability, the head of the organization attempted to bribe the police officer with 5,000 rubles by putting the banknote into his ID papers, she added.
“However, the man was unable to complete his criminal intent, as the police officer did not accept the bribe money,” she explained.
The sentence has not yet entered into force, Lyudmila Fomina added.
