According to him, the Penza region governor Ivan Belozertsev actively supports this idea.

“While we lost the river buses, the river embankment development project provides for a necessary return of water transport in the future. And it will keep on living with the Sura river as a transport corridor,” Victor Kuvaytsev stressed.

As PenzaNews agency reported earlier, a group of 25 architects developed a Sura river embankment development project, which was prepared in three main fields – city planning, space-planning solution, and environment design – and split into three stages – pre-2018, pre-2023, and pre-2030.

On February 19, a delegation from the Penza region – featuring the chief architect of the region Leonid Ioffe, the head of Urban Planning and Architecture Department to the city hall Olga Maximova, and the general director of “Grazhdanproekt” Yuri Shlyakhin – left for Rostov-on-Don to study the target city’s experience of reconstructing the local river embankment zone.
