“Based on the autumn stock take in the tree nurseries in forestries, we have 5.5 million one-year-old common pine seedlings and 4.1 million two-year-old ones,” the press service of the Penza region Ministry of Forestry, Hunting and Natural Resources informed PenzaNews.
The forestries organized a series of measures to shield the pine seedlings from fungi and infections as soon as the thaw season started in full, they explained.
“They also organized water drainage lines, punched vent holes in the soil planted with seedlings, and spread ash over the tree nursery to speed up thawing,” the Forestry Ministry pointed out.
