Penza, 15 March 2016. PenzaNews. A batch of chlorella microalgae has been infused under the ice of the water pond located by the “Chistye Prudy” hotel complex in the Mokshansk area of the Penza region on Tuesday, March 15.

Nearly 200 liters of chlorella has been infused under the ice as a first-stage environmental recovery measure in the pond.

Overall, the pond cleaning measures in 2016 will be held in three stages.

“Chlorella algae plays an important role in generating oxygen. The ministry will be controlling the environmental situation at the pond throughout the year. If the measure yields positive results, it will be recommended for recovery in other basins used for potable water,” announced Elena Knyazheva, assistant head of the water resources protection, state natural resource supervision and environment protection in the regional Forestry Ministry.

The undertaken measures are expected to help the “Chistye Prudy” water pond famous for its clear water [“Chistye Prudy” means “clear water” in Russian] successfully recover by the summer of 2016.
