The municipal toll parking zone on Privokzalnaya square in Penza by the Penza-1 train station may open as soon as in May, announced Alexei Ryabov, head of the Economic Development Department of the city administration, during the city hall session on Tuesday, April 12.

“I think that we could get the parking there rolling if all departments get quite actively involved in this work, the human factor taken into account. With the relevant automatization of all processes to avert the human factor,” he said.

According to Alexei Ryabov, the parking issue was delayed due to the work to prepare the procurement auction and the contest announced by the Ministry of Transportation under the guidance of the UN.

“We did that in order to receive professional evaluation of the proposed ideas and the approaches. 36 cities with populations ranging from 500,000 to 2,000,000 were invited to the contest, around 20 took part in it. Five cities were selected, and Penza was among them. We are the only city out of the Volga Federal District who managed to win this contest,” the head of the Economic Development Department pointed out.

He added that he will be leaving for Moscow on Thursday, April 14, to discuss the details of the agreement between the project management and the city administration and the technical moments.

“We expect to be able to use the money we receive their under the contest for such things as the project to manage the Privokzalnaya square area,” Alexei Ryabov clarified.
