Penza, 23 April 2016. PenzaNews. Penza was included in the list of Russian cities with federal-level airports which was approved by the Russian government decree of 20 April 2016.

The list itself, which includes 91 locations, can be divided into four groups.

The first group includes four airports located in the federal-level cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg. In addition, the list features 57 international airports located in the main cities of various Russian regions. Alongside that, the roster includes 13 non-international airports located in main regional cities; and 17 international airports located in non-main regional cities.

Penza was included in the roster at No. 57 as a city with the airport of the main regional city.
