Penza, 29 April 2016. PenzaNews. Over 30 new members of the people’s militia received their membership documents in an official ceremony held at the Penza city hall.

The ceremony took place on Thursday, April 28.

The event, which involved representatives of the city hall, the City Duma, the police and the people’s militia, featured a discussion of the issues related to ensuring public safety during the upcoming holidays, the press service of the city administration informed PenzaNews.

The Penza people’s militia was founded in September 2014, with Mikhail Shakhov as its commander.

As of 1 April 2016, the organization has a total of 327 members, who actively participate in protecting public order at police stations together with the traffic police, and also during political and cultural mass events and celebrations.

The recent expansion of the people’s militia thanks to the institutions of the city’s sports committee brought its numbers up to 360 members.
