In addition, seedlings of fruit trees, grape vines and other flowers were in great demand, all accompanying a wide supply of honey as well as apiary and herbal products and medicine.

In addition, the fair sellers offered outdoors grills, lighters, tables, chairs and other goods for garden and gardening.

According to the Penza region Minister of Agriculture Andrei Burlakov, while each seller sets his own price at the fair, his experience shows that the prices for apple seedlings keep 100-150 rubles lower than in stores and markets.

“99% of them are grown in Penza by producers with good reputation,” he stressed.

Also, the minister mentioned that he had bought a small batch of grape vine seedlings during the previous fair.

“I planted them in my garden, and I think they took roots,” he said.

In addition, Andrei Burlakov said there is a possibility that the next year may see the appearance of smaller and further fairs at the dacha bus stops if the demand is sufficient.

“We will try to answer the requests,” he said, adding that the Lenina square fair has both supporters and opponents.

Also, the minister explained that the city will make sure to organize weekend fairs in autumn, where dacha owners will be able to sell their surplus grown foods.
