“We spend over 30 days on our way. We will cross 150 cities, towns and villages of our immeasurable Motherland. […] We set off from five points at once – from Sevastopol, Breast, Arkhangelsk, Derbent and the Russky island. All points will get together on May 5 in Vladimir, from which we will leave for the heroic city of Moscow together. On our arrival, we will unwap the banner of 200 sq. meters and head the column of the Immortal Regiment on the Red Square,” said Artem Kashitsyn, head of the Derbent-Moscow point of the campaign for the international patriotic project “Star of Our Great Victory.”

He expressed his belief that the members of the Immortal Regiment will revive the memories and the legacy of their fathers and grandparents while carrying the Victory Banner replica in the parade.

Victory Day is the event that unites all citizens of Russia and former Soviet countries, noted Vyacheslav Kosmachev, deputy chairman of the Penza region Legislative Assembly.

“This is they day when we pay our dues to the enormous sacrifices made during the Great Patriotic War [Second World War]. The soldiers of the Great Victory, the workers of the homeland, the people who lived in the occupied territories: with their feats of valor and bravery, they showed the meaning of service to their native country, service to the Motherland. Penza citizens also made a great contribution to our victory. During the first days of the Great Patriotic War, military commissariats received around 5,000 applications, as people were urging to let them fight at the forefront. Over the Great Patriotic War, 312,000 Penza citizens participated in the fighters, and 200,000 lost their lives there. These losses are enormous, but these losses contributed to our Victory. We pay our sacred due to the sacrifices made for the sake of our safe present and beautiful future,” he stressed.

In turn, Alexander Yelatontsev, head of the internal policy department of the Penza region government, urged the citizens to act as the people worthy of the legacy of those who gave their lives for the Motherland. In addition, the vice mayor Vladimir Popkov thanked the members of the motor rally for being active and courageous citizens.
