Penza unveils Victory Day celebration program

Penza, 4 May 2016. PenzaNews. The celebration of the 71st anniversary of the Great Victory over Nazi Germany on the Eastern Front of the Second World War became the main topic of the press conference held at the Penza city administration on Wednesday, May 4.

“The outdoors museum of military machines at the Pionersky public garden will officially open on May 8. The May 9 celebration will begin with the annual ‘Immortal Regiment’ campaign. The campaigners will assemble on Kommunisticheskaya street at 10.00, and begin the march at 10.30, following the Banner of Victory,” said the head of the Penza Culture Department Vera Feygina.

The official celebration ceremony and the public rally by the Penza Military and Labor Valor Monument will begin at 11.30. For the elderly and the veterans, the city officials will install stands for 200 and 300 seats respectively.

The traditional track relay race for the Penza region gubernatorial prizes will set off at 13.00.

The people on Fontannaya and Yubileynaya squares will be able to quell their hunger at the square before the Penza youth center, thanks to the campaign “Soldier’s Porridge.”

In addition, more festivities with sing and dance ensembles will be held at Zhuravli public garden, Fontannaya square, Denis Davydov public garden, the Belinsky central park, the Penza zoo and the Olimpiysky park.

Moreover, the Belinsky park, the children’s park and the zoo will hold asphalt-drawing contests, and the Penza train station and “SuniMart” shopping center will organize exhibitions of children’s drawings.

At 18.50, Penza will join the all-Russian campaign “Minute of Silence,” which will be announced with a three-minute warning horn.

The Victory Day fireworks will be held at 22.30.
