Penza airport holds explosion, helicopter capture drills

Penza, 31 May 2016. PenzaNews. The Penza airport hosted anti-terror drills that featured an alleged explosion in the waiting hall and the capture of a Mi-8 helicopter with its two-man crew in its scenario on Monday, May 30. The drills were organized by the Penza region anti-terror task force.

According to the drills scenario, the alleged airport explosion occurred at 9.30.

During the drills, emergency dispatches of the Penza region anti-terror task force, firefighting service and EMERCOM medical service were immediately sent to the mock explosion site.

As part of the scenario, the Penza region anti-terror task force introduced a counterterrorism op mode in Penza and the Penza region, while the area administration evac committee evacuated the locals on the affected territories.

Moreover, the drills featured a mock military mission with terrorists elimination and aftermath cleanup sanctioned by the Penza region anti-terror task force.

“The drills served to test the airport terror act aftermath cleanup measures, improve cooperation between security forces in the region, and train practical skills of the personnel who would be involved in the operations. The drills allowed us to evaluate the level of preparedness in the regional law enforcement forces in terms of reacting to such threats to security,” the press service of the Penza region anti-terror task force informed PenzaNews.
