The issues related to the current status of the structures and the measures to prevent any related emergencies that may occur were discussed during the videoconference meeting on Thursday, June 9.
According to Mikhail Panyukhin, head of the Penza region Communal Affairs and Civil Security Department, the current hydraulic structures have been in use for over 30 years.
“They experience the highest load during the spring thawing season and the summer-autumn rain season. Because of their current status, we may conclude that the number of emergencies at the hydraulic structures will keep increasing year to year. In turn, this will negatively affect the well-being of citizens, increase material damages and aftermath cleanup expenses,” he explained.
At the end of the session, Penza region executive authorities related to hydraulic structure safety and local municipalities were tasked to draft plans for dangerous-legel hydraulic structure inspection.
After the inspections, the relevant supervision bodies will draw their conclusions on further use of hydraulic structures, says the press service of the Penza region Communal Affairs and Civil Security Department.
