He instructed the first vice-mayor Sergei Volkov to mobilize all persons responsible for the Penza summer health resort campaign and organize emergency checks.

“We need to have a very great understanding of the current security measures implemented at water bodies, and what other measures are necessary to prevent tragic water accidents,” the press service of the Penza city administration quotes Victor Kuvaytsev.

The tragedy in Karelia resulted in a criminal case on providing services without adhering to security normatives.

According to preliminary investigation results, on Saturday, June 18, several boats carrying 47 children and four adult instructors from the “Park-Hotel Syamozero” summer camp ended up in a lake storm, which resulted in several boats capsizing. As a result, 11 children and one instructor drowned.

The investigators and forensic experts of the central Investigative Committee department have been dispatched to the location.

The criminal investigation will evaluate the performance of the summer camp personnel and other officials in terms of ensuring safety and preventing boating travels during bad weather.

Reportedly, one of the instructors has been detained and is being questioned.
