“I’ve had an idea for a long time to hire a Tajikistan man, but it’s not done yet,” the musician said during the press conference held before his concert in Penza in the evening of Monday, June 20.

After the media asked him about the role of the new performer in the band, Sergei Shnurov explained that the new member will likely be “singing in very poor Russian.”

“Our team assembled way back in around these numbers – give or take one person, one and a half, or two. We have been playing since 2000 – for 16 years already. We definitely have no stars – we all are kinda plumber material, worker men. Today, at the current stage, we still have no stars,” the leader of “Leningrad” band noted.

He also explained the choice to replace one former singer girl with two.

“Every man understands that two girls is better than one. […] I always wanted to have two girl singers in the band: firstly, they would be able to sing in a duo during the refrains,” Sergei Shnurov explained.

For his second point, the musician said that he seeks to make a discussion between two women into a song.

“There is nothing more funny, abstract and nonsensical than a discussion between two women. I think it can fit in the whole absurd of the modern life,” the musician noted.
