Penza governor criticizes children’s rights ombudsman’s performance

Penza, 5 July 2016. PenzaNews. The Penza region governor Ivan Belozertsev has criticized the performance of the regional children’s rights ombudsman Elena Stolyarova, and said he sees no systematic and constant activities in her field.

“We created this office, planning for you to do your work actively. So far, I do not see it,” he said during the 36th regular session of the Penza region Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, July 5.
Also, the head of the region pointed out that a children’s rights ombudsman should not be writing letters in support of the Russian children’s rights ombudsman Pavel Astakhov.
“Let’s better be doing our work, our own,” the governor stressed.
Ivan Belozertsev asked Elena Stolyarova to get to intensifying preventive measures to avert any injuries and deaths among children, instead of holding post-factum analyses.
“You need to do work, instead of writing some support letters,” he said.
