Bags with mercury-containing lamps, found in woods near Penza, sent for recycling

Penza, 20 July 2016. PenzaNews. The bags with luminescent and mercury-containing energy-saving lamps, found in the woods close to Montazhny village near Penza, were sent to a specialized enterprise for their recycling.

As the press service of the city administration told the news agency PenzaNews, the information on the finding was sent to a dispatcher console of the unified duty-dispatching service of Penza on Tuesday, July 19.
During the inspection of the operation group, it was established that on the site there were ownerless bags with luminescent and mercury-containing run-down lamps constituting a real threat to people’s health and environmental safety. The found lamps were removed from the site. They have been sent to a specialized enterprise for their recycling,” the press service said.
The major’s office reminded that, in accordance with current legislation, disposal, use and transportation of mercury-containing lamps by an individual is not permitted.
“Such activities can be undertaken by licensed enterprises, including the state public institution ‘Management Agency for Procurement in Penza’ (6D, Slavy street, Penza, phone: +7 (8412) 45-24-33), ‘Penzavtorsyrye’ (30A, Ryabova street, Penza, phone: +7 (8412) 36-01-20, 20-40-91) and the individual entrepreneur V. N. Sidorov (56, Izhevskaya street, Penza, phone: +7 (8412) 33-78-81),” the city administration added.
