Penza, 2 August 2016. PenzaNews. The Penza region governor Ivan Belozertsev congratulated the citizens with Russian Airborne Forces Day celebrated on Tuesday, August 2.

“Created in 1930, the Airborne Forces came through many events to establish and assert themselves. Penza citizens are rightfully proud to know that one of them – Vasily Glazunov, Soviet General Lieutenant, twice Hero of the Soviet Union and a living legend – became the first Commander of the Airborne Forces,” the head of the region noted.

According to him, airborne troops are carefully preserving and building upon the patriotic legacy of their ancestors and carry the results of military training that made them the elite troops they are known to be.

“The service in the Airborne Forces is rightfully known to be a difficult and critical undertaking, and yet thousands of boys keep dreaming to one day earn the right to wear their blue berets. I believe that it will continue to be the same. I wish all airborne troops and veterans sound health, prosperity and happiness!” the press service of the Penza region government quotes Ivan Belozertsev.
