Rabies incidence decreased 3 times in Penza region

Penza, 2 September 2016. PenzaNews. 30 cases of animal rabies were identified in the Penza region in 7 months of 2016, which is 3.1 times less than in the same period last year, the regional Rospotrebnadzor website informs.

73.3% of the total accounted for pets. Most commonly, rabies was detected in dogs and cats — 11 cases, followed by the fox - 6 cases.
In addition, the disease was diagnosed in one horse, and one case was detected among small ruminants.
Animal rabies was reported in 16 municipalities of the region. The largest number of cases were detected in Shemysheysky area — six. Three cases were registered in Serdobsky, Luninsky, Gorodishchensky areas and Kondolsky district of the Penza region.
The number of victims of animal bites has decreased by 15.7% compared to the same period of 2015.
