Penza, 6 September 2016. PenzaNews. Four ostriches were born in the Penza Zoo. As the zoo website reports, ostriches appeared in the zoo just a year ago, and brought the first offspring.

“The male prepared a nest like he does in the wild. It scrapes a hole in the sand, 30-60 cm deep. Females [...] lay eggs right in front of the male, and it rolls them under its body itself. The male incubates the eggs during the night, females – during the day. However, our ostriches did not hatch eggs themselves, the eggs were put in the incubator,” the zoo website reports.
