Penza region claims grant of 500 million rubles for road network development

Penza, 28 September 2016. PenzaNews. Penza region claimed for a grant in the amount of 500 mln. Rubles for the development of the road network.

“The project is aimed at large agglomerations — cities and suburbs with over half a million residents. The list of applicants include 18 regions, 10 of which will receive grants from the Russian government in the amount of 500 million rubles if they are able to develop and uphold their integrated programs for the development of the road network,” Maxim Sokolov, Russian Transport Minister, said during a conference call with the representatives of the region including Governor Ivan Belozertsev and Mayor Victor Kuvaytsev on Wednesday, September 28.
According to the requirements, the regional programs should contains steps to bringing the road network up to standard, optimizing traffic flow, encouraging the development of public transport infrastructure, introducing modern management techniques.
Thus the main objective of this project is to reduce accidents on Russian roads.
As the press service of the government of the Penza region told PenzaNews, the regional programs are accepted by the Ministry of Transport of Russia no later than October 10.
