Number of benefits for students who lost their parents in period of studies increased Penza

Penza, 30 September 2016. PenzaNews. Additional social support measures were introduced in the Penza region for students who lost both parents or the only parent in the period of studies. The corresponding decision was taken during the 38 th regular session of the Legislative Assembly of the region, held on Friday, September 30.

Draft regional law was presented by the Minister of Education of the Penza region Alexander Voronkov.
“Persons who lost both parents or a single parent during the studies are people aged between 18 and 23 years, who during the training on the basic professional educational programs or training programs for trades of workers and positions of civil servants, lost both parents or the single parent,” the speaker explained.
He said that currently seven of such students study in the educational institutions of the Penza region who used to receive a monthly allowance in the amount of 11,570 rubles.
“The present draft law provides for such students along with orphans and children left without parental care, the following measures of social support: state social grants, annual allowance for the purchase of textbooks and supplies, free travel or issuance of monetary compensation, [...] monetary compensation in the amount necessary for the purchase of a set of clothes, shoes, soft inventory and equipment, [...] and one free travel at the end of the educational organization,” Alexander Voronkov said.
The minister noted that the payments will be made from the scholarship fund and grants of state financing.
As a result, the bill was passed by a majority vote.
