Signatures in support of monument to Vasily Bochkarev being collected in Penza

Penza, 17 November 2016. PenzaNews. The “Open Penza” portal posted the initiative to erect a monument to the ex-governor of the Penza region, the Federation Council of the Russian Federation ex-member Vasily Bochkarev who had died of a long disease on June 22, 2016.

According to him, the monument should be placed next to the building of the Zheleznodorozhny area administration where Vasily Bochkarev worked during several years.
“The monument will symbolize our honour to the real patriot of the native land who managed to make the region one of the most outstanding places in the Volga Federal District during hard times,” the post says.
It also states that new sports facilities, cultural and medical institutions, enterprises, trade and entertainment centres were created during Vasily Bochkarev’s governing.
“The monument will be one of the most famous and recognizable symbols of the city,” the text informs.
The author of the initiative suggested announcing a design contest for the future monument and to choose the best project by public opinion poll at the Penza mayor’s office website. Costs of the monument building and erecting are planned to be covered by sponsors money and citizens donations.
As of 19.00 Thursday, November 17, the initiative was supported by two people. If it gets 200 votes during 120 days, the initiative will be submitted to the Penza administration.
