“Incidents connected with drinking poor quality alcohol and pure counterfeit happen every week. Thousands of our citizens die and lose their health. Why do cases of alcohol poisoning happen again and again? Because counterfeit producers bear only slight responsibility even when the law tries to punish them,” he noted.
According to Ivan Belozertsev, it is important to increase penalties under Part 2, Art. 14.16 of the Administrative Offences Code of the Russian Federation “Violation of ethanol and alcohol containing products trade rules” up to 150-200 thousand rubles for officials, 300-400 thousand rubles for companies and under Part 3 of the same article – up to 100-150 thousand rubles and 200-250 thousand rubles respectively.
“We hope that if the decision is taken, the amount of alcohol poisoning in Russia as well as in the Penza region will decrease,” the press service of the regional government quotes Ivan Belozertsev.
