The right to cut the symbolic red tape was given to the head of the internal policy department of the Penza region government Alexander Yelatontsev, the deputy head of the department of culture and archive of the Penza region Vladimir Karpov and the chairman of the Russian Geographical Society branch Igor Pantyushov.
“I think that pupils from Penza and from other areas of the Penza region must visit this museum. Why? Because they study such subject as ‘Local history, geography and culture’, and I think that this museum is the place where they will learn about our heroes,” Alexander Yelatontsev said.
At the same time, Vladimir Karpov promised to assist the museum in its development and to enrich its exposition.
Igor Pantyushov told the audience about the stands that represent documents, books, personal things of travelers, photos, ship models; after that, he awarded the organizations and residents who contributed to the creation of the museum with diplomas.
During the opening ceremony, the museum collection was widened by several new exhibits – commemorative coins, a sea flag, and a photo taken at the Elbrus peak where alpinist Andrei Denisevich holds the Penza region flag.
The head of the literature memorial museums union Nadezhda Nikulayenkova suggested Penza residents taking part in a contest saying that the terms will be published on the organization website in the nearest future.
“We suggest you trying to make a corner devoted to travelling of your ancestors, family, school class or to your own. We will allot the equipment, […] and the winner’s corner will be here within a month,” she said.
