Road quality control to be tightened in Penza region

Penza, 1 December 2016. PenzaNews. Road quality control must be tightened in the Penza region due to steady decrease of air temperature and increase of road accidents probability. Such opinion was expressed by the vice-governor Valery Savin.

“It is important to concern ourselves not only with federal and regional roads, not only with central streets of Penza, big cities, and settlements. We should pay attention to area and yard streets, to roads of minor importance that finally become abandoned,” he said during the meeting with heads of urban districts and municipal areas administrations, as well as with representatives of law-enforcement authorities, that was held via video conference on Thursday, December 1.

As it was reported by the press service of the regional government, during 10 months of the 2016 year the number of road accidents decreased by 8% – from 1,708 to 1,565, the number of dead – by 4% – from 198 to 190, the number of injured – by 5% – from 2,281 to 2172.

According to unofficial data, 129 accidents happened due to poor road maintenance in winter.
