Mayor: Crime reduction trend is observed in Penza

Penza, 21 December 2016. PenzaNews. Steady trend of crime reduction is observed in Penza during the last years. This was reported by the head of the city administration Victor Kuvaytsev during his report on preliminary results of the social and economic development of Penza, which took place in the grand hall of the mayor’s office on Wednesday, December 21.

“Thus, the number of registered crimes decreased by 12% in comparison with the 2015 year. The number of the crimes committed in the streets of the city and in public places also decreased. The number of crimes committed by juveniles decreased by 13%. The number of crimes in the sphere of family and everyday relationships decreased by 3.4%,” the mayor adduced statistical information.

According to him, stabilization of criminal situation is influenced by the Penza system of crime prevention, which united the efforts of the local government, law enforcement authorities, and population.

In particular, Victor Kuvaytsev emphasized the fact that the Penza public squad and the community council on crime prevention are actively involved in the maintenance of public order.

In addition, the head of the city administration noted that the events concerning civil defense, prevention and liquidation of emergency situations, fire safety provision and protection of people in water bodies were carried out to the full extent.

“The Volga regional EMERCOM centre awarded the urban district Penza the second place in the contest ‘Best local self-government body of municipal settlement in the sphere of health and safety provision in the Volga Federal District’ among administrative centres with the population from 500,000 to 1 million residents,” he said.
