This time, the residents who decided to celebrate the holiday outside, will celebrate it next to the new tree. In November 2016 it replaced the old one, which was used for 11 years.

The height of the new artificial tree is 25 metres and the diameter of the foundation – 5 metres. The tree is decorated with two sets of lighting equipment.

In addition, the trees in other areas of Penza, including the ones at the stadium “Pervomaysk”, “Mogilevsky dvorik”, the public garden Druzhba, are also decorated. A real fir tree was decorated next to the building of the city administration in Marshala Zhukova square.

The festive atmosphere is also created by lighting installations, which appeared in Penza before New Year.

One of the brightest ones was installed in Yubileynaya square – next to the regional philharmonic. The three-dimensional numbers “2017” drew the attention of Penza residents and guests at once. They are actively used as the background for winter photos.

In addition, in 2016 it was decided to turn the monument “Globus” into a symbolic “New Year tree decoration”. In order to do this, a special carcass with light emitting threads was installed around it. The monument was topped with a special “ring-shaped detail” that is usually used to put balls on a New Year tree.

In Lenina square New Year atmosphere was created by the winter settlement, where young residents of Penza can slide down a slide. An ice rink and a skates rental were organized here, in a heated pavilion people can get warm and drink some tea.

A real fir tree, which was cut near the apartment house under construction in the Arbekovo area that is constructed at the place of the resettled dilapidated housing, was installed there.

Moskovskaya street was decorated with the garlands “The starry sky”, which began to shine this winter brighter than before. They, as well as the numbers “2017”, became one of the Penza symbols before New Year.

In the end of November – at the beginning of December, the lampposts installed along the central streets of the city were decorated as well. Some of them were decorated with the garlands that have the same colour as the Russian flag.

At the same time, no money for streets decoration was allocated from the city budget in 2016. The creation of the festive atmosphere was carried out at the expense of business with the support of different organizations and institutions. According to the available information, the companies “San-Liko-Invest”, “Promsvyazbank” and “Penzenskaya gorelektroset” were among those who made a great contribution to the decoration of Penza before New Year.
