"Let us make 2-3 pedestrian crossings with illumination installed in the asphalt," he suggested at the operative meeting in the regional government on Tuesday, January 24.

According to him, this should become a kind of Penza zest.

The head of the region did not specify where exactly such pedestrian crossings should be located.

At present, the technology of pedestrian crossing illumination is actively adopted by a number of Russian cities. Thus, since the beginning of the year in Moscow, led lights that change color depending on traffic lights were installed on supports over a roadway at five crossings. Signs of pedestrian crossings received additional illumination — they blink brightly, attracting drivers' attention.

It is expected that such decision will reduce the number of traffic rules violations and the number of accidents, including those with fatal outcome.

According to official statistics, the number of accidents at intersections decreased on average by 40% in the United States and Europe, where similar illumination was introduced.
