Ministry of Energy publishes photos from scene of roof collapse at Penza thermal power plant

Penza, 26 January 2017. PenzaNews. Photos from the scene of roof collapse at the workshop of Penza thermal power plant No. 1 with the total area of 600 square metres were published on the website of the Ministry of Energy of Russia.

The photos show that the collapsed constructions were of different size and were made of metal: some of them fell down completely and the rest remained hanging in the air being supported by other parts of the roof.
"The turbine generator TG-5 (60 MW) was switched off because of the collapse. It did not have any consequences to the consumers. As the result of roof collapse, one person was killed. The information about plant equipment damage is being investigated," the report of the press service of the Russian Ministry of Energy states.
It notes that the situation is under office control.
"Works on minimizing risks to heat supply are conducted. The equipment that was in reserve was started to be used. There are no risks to electricity supply," the report explains.
