Penza, 7 February 2017. PenzaNews. Fruit from Poland weighing 1,604 kg, which were realized in the Penza region illegally, were destroyed in 2016.

"We seized and destroyed two lots of pears – 562 kg, three lots of apples – 634 kg, two lots of mandarins – 400 kg, and one lot of nectarines," the regional department of the Federal Service on Surveillance for Consumer rights protection and human well-being told PenzaNews.

The department added that they seized 203 lots of fruit and vegetable products weighing over 7.4 tons because they did not meet the requirements, their pull dates expired or the sellers did not have complete reliable information about the products.

"Within the control and supervision activities and within the production control, 4,823 samples of fruit and vegetables were examined by different criteria, which characterize their quality and safety. 5% of the examined products was imported," the department noted.

The press service emphasized that the examined samples of fruit, berries and melon crops had no toxic substances, nitrates, pesticides, mycotoxins, genetically modified organisms, and radionuclides.

"According to the results of the supervision activities, the department drew up 686 administrative protocols and signed 686 orders that bind violators to pay administrative penalties totaling 4,395,400 rubles," the regional department of the Federal Service on Surveillance for Consumer rights protection and human well-being summed up.
