Penza, 8 February 2017. PenzaNews. 1,561 tons of meat and poultry products were withdrawn from trade in the Penza region in 2016.

As it was reported by the press service of the regional department of the Federal Service on Surveillance for Consumer rights protection and human well-being, these products had violations of mandatory requirements.

"In 2016, 289 inspections of the companies engaged in the production and trade in meat and meat products were carried out, law violations were registered in 91% of the cases. The main violations of the existing legislation were unsatisfactory sanitary conditions and maintenance of the premises, lack of the required shipping documents, failure to comply with the conditions of products storage and transportation, and with the rules of personal hygiene, as well as lack of the required products description," the department explained.

The office added that, overall 2,803 samples of meat were examined.

"Discrepancy in microbiological indicators was registered in 3.4% of the products, in physico-chemical indicators – in 1%. The results of the sanitary-chemical and parasitological examinations were satisfactory. The examined meat, meat and poultry products contained no genetically modified organisms and radioactive substances," the press service noted.

The department specified that over 265 officials, organizations and individual entrepreneurs were found administratively liable; the imposed penalty amounted to 965,830 rubles.
