Penza, 10 February 2017. PenzaNews. One of the Penza symbols – the monument Rostok - was scaffoldedwithin the framework of the Sura embankment reconstruction.

At present, it is concealed from the view of residents and guests of the city behind a green net.

In addition, the territory of the Rostok and Glory to Heroes monuments was enclosed by a metal fence. The table placed there informs that at present the embankment undergoes the first stage of capital repairs.

The customer is the department of capital repairs of Penza, the general contractor is the LLC "Managing company Vozrozhdenie trading house" from Saint Petersburg.

The works started in December, 2016, and are planned to be finished in November, 2017.

As it was reported by the press service of the Penza administration, by now workers dismantled concrete tiles from the monument.

"Workers installed external knock-down scaffolding in order to conduct works on cleaning and dust removing from the stylobate surface, put slabs for paving works, prepared materials for water supply system reconstruction. At the moment, workers are dismantling the system of glass slabs and metal fastenings of the monument with a bas-relief," the mayor's office explained.

The press service added that it is planned to make a pedestrian esplanade in the upper part of the embankment.

"It is also planned to lay tile, to decorate area around trees, to install hard landscaping and city sculptures, to replace lighting equipment, to install the automatized lawn sprinkler system and to plant trees and bushes," the city administration noted.

The monument Rostok was erected in Penza in 1976. It was made of stainless steel. Its height is 25 metres.
