Penza, 23 February 2017. PenzaNews. Authorities and law enforcement agencies took part in the solemn events dedicated to Defender's Day and held in Prospekt Pobedy street in Penza on Thursday, February 23.

A thanksgiving service for dead soldiers was conducted in the Church of the Michael Archangel. It was attended by the governor Ivan Belozertsev, the Penza mayor Victor Kuvaytsev, the chairman of the Legislative Assembly Valery Lidin, and other officials.
When the service finished, all officials moved to the Penza Military and Labor Valor Monument.

Among those who came to honour the memory of the deceased there were a lot of soldiers, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, EMERCOM, the Federal Security Service, and other departments.

A rifle salute was given after a minute of silence in honour of fallen soldiers.

After that everyone could lay flowers to the monument.
