Penza, 26 February 2017. PenzaNews. The burning of the effigy of Maslenitsa burning was conducted in the Penza central park of culture and leisure on Sunday evening, February 26.

It became one of the final events of the celebrations held during the whole day in Penza.

A lot of people came to look at the effigy burning. Many of them decided to capture the process on mobile phone cameras in order to share the photos and the videos on social networks. Taking into account that the sun had already set by that time, the fire looked especially bright.

The effigy blazed up in just a few seconds – first, its back part inflamed, then the fire spread to the whole construction. In less than a minute, the top layer was burnt completely revealing the carcass. The burning was accompanied by shouting: "Burn, burn brightly, so that it does not fade".

Just in five minutes, the fire destroyed the effigy completely.
