Penza, 10 March 2017. PenzaNews. The union of professional taxi drivers of Penza opposes the possibility of such companies as Uber, Gett or Yandex.Taxi entering the local market. This was reported by the head of the union Andrei Gaykalov.

"There is a law on taxi transportation but it did not help drivers, on the opposite – it made things more complicated by giving much freedom to large companies," the interlocutor explained.

According to Andrei Gaykalov, it was planned that starting March 1, the Yandex.Taxi service would be introduced in Penza, though it did not happen.

As for possible negative consequences of opening such services in the city, the head of the union of professional taxi drivers mentioned first of all sharp decline in cost of services, which would worsen difficult working conditions of those who are engaged in this business.

In addition, Andrei Gaykalov said that in future it will be possible to observe decrease of the quality of provided services with a simultaneous increase of the number of illegal drivers.

"Soon we may have photos and videos of different characters with stickers on their car windows similar to "StopHam" with the inscriptions 'I am a gypsy cab driver', 'I don't care about your life', etc," the interlocutor said.
