"Guys, I'm selling my car! BMW X6 xDrive35i. I received it for the Olympic gold in August 2016, the model is unique. It is in excellent condition and was used carefully, honestly. The car is great and the one who will get it will be lucky. I don't want to sell it but such are the circumstances," the athlete wrote on her Instagram account without specifying why exactly she decided to sell the car.

Within an hour, the post received over 3,000 likes and rose a lively discussion.

Some users noticed that such presents mustn't be sold and compared the car to a state award.

"How can you do this? The car is sacred! How can you sell it? It is the same as selling state awards," a user under the nickname Ecotwinsong wrote.

Other people believe that such action is an occasion for Russian authorities to think over what kind of presents athletes should receive for a successful performance.

Some users of the social network asked Aliya Mustafina to give them the car free of charge, and others suggested placing it on auction in order to get more money.
