He specified that 114 of them were castrated and 511 animals were subjected to euthanasia.
According to announced data, responsible services registered two hotbeds of rabies. Within the framework of restrictive measures, they caught and put down 353 stray animals. In 2015, there were five hotbeds, which resulted in putting down 862 animals.
According to Andrei Grishin, despite conducted measures on regulation of the number of stray animals in Penza, it is impossible to solve the issue completely.
He specified that in order to regulate the number of stray animals it is necessary to have premises that would accommodate 150-200 animals, while an existing shelter may accommodate only 28.
In turn, the deputy Alexei Shuvarin suggested turning to the government of the region in order to ask about increasing donations in this area.
As it was reported by the press service of the mayor's office, a final decision on this issue will be made on a regular session of the regional government that will be held in the end of March.
