This was said by the mayor Victor Kuvaytsev while he was giving a report on the results of the administration activities over the last year at the 32nd regular session of the City Duma on Friday, March 31.

According to him, as of January 1, 2016, the population of Penza amounted to 524,600 people.

"The birth rate increases every year while the mortality rate – decreases. At present, the death rate exceeds the birth rate but the dynamics of the last few years shows a positive trend, and by 2020 we expect to have natural population growth," Victor Kuvaytsev said.
