Penza residents celebrate Spring and Labour Day by rally in Lenin square

Penza, 1 May 2017. PenzaNews. Representatives of four Penza areas took part in an official event dedicated to the Spring and Labour Day celebrated on Monday morning, May 1.

Columns of the Leninsky, Oktyabrsky, Zheleznodorozhny and Pervomaysky areas entered the square being accompanied by solemn music. During their marching, presenters of the event told the audience about the process of their formation and named the largest enterprises located in their territory.

At the beginning of the event, accompanied by the sounds of the Russian anthem, organizers of the rally launched balloons of blue, white, and red colours that symbolized the flag of the Russian Federation.

Turning to those present, the governor of the Penza region Ivan Belozertsev made special mention of high achievements of labour collectives at enterprises of the Penza region.

"We are really proud of the fact that the enterprises that work in the Penza region are the foundation of the regional economy. [...] We are proud to say that the Penza land develops agriculture, and a lot of labour collectives that are engaged in the spheres of education, health, culture, business as well as in social sphere show good results," the head of the region explained.

He also wished regional enterprises development and increase of workforce productivity.

According to the governor, it is important that young workers replenish labour collectives.

"Only the mixture of young and older generations can stimulate development," Ivan Belozertsev emphasized.

In turn, the chairman of the Legislative Assebly of the Penza region Valery Lidin explained that the Spring and Labour Day symbolizes traditions and respect to the working man.

"This holiday is celebrated by a number of working people around the world. Our region is multinational. [...] These unity and cohesion emphasize that the region develops steadily and that our workers, people of labour, using talent and hard work, create all necessary conditions for the development of industry, agriculture, and are engaged in small and medium business proving dynamic development of the Penza region," he said.

The chairman of the regional Workers Unions Federation Nikolai Kotov noted that the Spring and Labour Day is a national holiday.

"The Penza region has always been known for labour collectives and dynasties as well as by hard-working people. They create the economic basis of our region. Today we understand that a working person should not be poor. Each of us who can work, and, most importantly, those who want to work, must live in wealth," Nikolai Kotov added.

According to the Penza mayor Victor Kuvaytsev, residents of the region have always been hard-working and kind.

"The things we are proud of nowadays were created by skilled people, by the mind and will of many generations of our fellow-citizens who believe that labour is a symbol of life, the basis of honour and dignity," the head of the city administration noted.

The holiday was continued by a concert in the Denis Davydov public garden.
