Penza, 16 May 2017. PenzaNews. Workers of the fire and rescue centre took an elk out of a concrete pit with a manhole in the children's health camp "Cheremushki" in the Penza region.

As the press service of the regional department of communal services and civil defense told PenzaNews, the information about the incident was received from a camp's security service employee on Monday, May 15.

"The rescuers widened the manhole with the help of an electric drill. In the presence of gamekeepers, using climbing equipment they retrieved the animal, which was previously put to sleep by a vet, from the pit," the department explained.

The department emphasized that the elk was not injured and was allowed to go to the forest.
