Penza, 12 June 2017. PenzaNews. Official celebrations on Russia Day and City Day started in Penza with an opening ceremony of the renewed gallery of honour and glory of the region on Monday morning, June 12.

The event was attended by the heads of executive and legislative authorities, workers of industrial, construction, and transportation companies, workers of agriculture, representatives of cultural, educational, and health institutions, as well as athletes and public figures.

Congratulating everyone on Russia Day and City Day, the governor of the Penza region Ivan Belozertsev noted a positive trend in the work of industry, agriculture, education, health, social sphere, as well as in culture and sport.

"We did a great job but we understand that there are still things to do. If we stop now, then we will fall behind in the development of our cities and areas, in the development of our region. It is the time to work a lot, to toil, to be creative," he said.

Then, in a solemn atmosphere Ivan Belozertsev awarded certificates of entry in the gallery of honour and glory of the region as well as winner's certificates and challenge cups of the regional contest for the title of "The best industrial enterprise of the Penza region in 2016".

Altogether 20 labour collectives and leaders of production were included in the gallery.
