Penza, 21 June 2017. PenzaNews. According to forecast, by 2035 the number of women at the age of 20-39 will decrease in Russia by 20-25%. This was reported by the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Russian Federation Maxim Topilin during his visit to Penza on Wednesday, June 21.

"It may sound ironic but we suggested and do suggest now introducing measures that encourage childbearing at an earlier age. The number of women at the age from 20 to 24-29 decreases in the country – the number of babies born by women of this age decreases as well. By 2030-2035 the number of women of childbearing age – from 20 to 39 years old – will decrease by about 20-25%, i.e. by a quarter, that is the reason why we will objectively live in a system of certain birth reduction," he explained.

According to Maxim Topilin, in this regard, the ministry confronts a task connected with an aggregate birth rate – it is necessary to ensure that a woman gives birth to a greater number of children.

The Minister added that it is important for the state to ensure natural increase instead of building up the population by means of migration. He also added that it is necessary to work on mortality reduction.
