The event was targeted at Penza journalists and bloggers and according to organizers, it was the first time the event was held in such a format.

In addition to the main course, the guests were also offered soft drinks, which included another novelty of the menu – raspberry lemonade.

"Fish&Chips" is a traditional English product. It was served in an unusual way – decorated in a marine style: a plate covered with a blue paper napkin had two small buckets of fish fingers, which are made of pollack fillet, and French fries on it.

It is supposed that a standard helping of "Fish&Chips" will include four fish fingers and a small portion of French fries.

"It is a promotion of McDonald's strategy aimed at provision of consumers with convenient meals – those that can be taken out and eaten in a car," the McDonald's production consultant Anton Voevodin explained.

According to him, the fish used for production of dishes is provided by the company "Espersen". Its production is located in Veliky Novgorod and the organization guarantees that catch of fish is conducted without harming the sea ecosystem.

"The only non-domestic product you can see on the tray is French fries – they are still delivered from Poland being produced by the company McCain. At large, about 90% of McDonald's products we receive from our Russian suppliers," Anton Voevodin noted.

He also said that according to standards, the length of potato strips in a portion should be no less than 7.5 cm.

"A good news is that at the moment the company 'Belaya Dacha' invested in construction of production in the territory of Russia. It is expected that by the end of 2018 French fries production will be launched in the territory of our country," Anton Voevodin said.

At the conclusion of the presentation, the head of the fast food restaurant Ekaterina Laskova asked Penza residents whether they liked the new product and the meeting participants gave a positive answer in chorus.

Some guests suggested holding such presentations more often.

Residents of Penza and other Russian cities will be able to appreciate "Fish&Chips" in McDonald's restaurants from August 1 to September 30. In case of high demand for the new product, it will be introduced into a permanent menu.
