Penza prosecutors register about 2,500 violations in sphere of children's rights protection

Penza, 4 August 2017. PenzaNews. In the first half of 2017, prosecutors of the Penza region registered 2,400 violations in the sphere of children's rights protection. This was reported by Natalia Kantserova, prosecutor of the region, at an extended meeting of the department's board, which was held on Friday, August 4.

She explained that issues of prevention of child neglect as well as prevention of crimes, offences and suicides committed by juveniles remained under strict control. Prosecutors also served as sentinels of children's rights for education, protection of life and health, and controlled provision of housing to orphans.

"Over 2,400 violations were registered by prosecutors in the sphere of children's rights protection," Natalia Kantserova specified.

The prosecutor noted that during this period, the number of minors who committed crimes decreased by 42% in the region.

"We have been struggling with children's suicidal actions for many years. This year we registered one fact of suicide and 16 attempts," she added.

Natalia Kantserova explained that because of that work on monitoring websites that promote suicide and their blocking continued, the press service of the prosecutor's office of the Penza region reports.
