Penza, 24 August 2017. PenzaNews. The 6th mass media festival "We are from Penza", which is conducted in 2017 in a two-day format, started in the Lermontov regional library on Thursday morning, August 24.

Before an official part, a friendly atmosphere established in the hall. Journalists were happy to talk in an informal setting and to take photos as mementos. Many of them tried to take a photo with the Pervy Kanal correspondent Anton Vernitsky, who became a special guest of the event.

Photos depicting weekdays of mass media representatives were demonstrated on walls in a hall where the festival opening was organized.

Turning to participants of the festival, the governor Ivan Belozertsev noted that the annual event allowed summing up results of work and discussing existing issues.

"The festival makes it possible to meet each other, to talk, to share experience and new approaches because a lot of things are changing in our life," the head of the region noted.

As in previous years, Ivan Belozertsev urged the journalists to write more about people of labour.

"We do not let other people learn about achievements of the Penza region," he noted.

The governor promised to support regional and Internet mass media. After that, he presented some editors with letters of gratitude and souvenirs.

In addition, festival participants were greeted by Leonid Levin, chairman of the lower house committee on information policy, information technology and communications, who had also been invited to the event a year before.

He awarded the editor-in-chief of “Penzenskaya Pravda” newspaper, chairman of the regional department of the Union of Journalists of Russia Pavel Shishkin.

In turn, the chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Penza region Valery Lidin turning to participants of the festival "We are from Penza" made a special notice of high professionalism of journalists who work in the region.

Summing up the results of professional skills contest, which had been resumed a year before, the head of the regional department of the Union of Journalists of Russia Pavel Shishkin said that over 100 works had been submitted. After that, he awarded winners of the contest.

In 2017, the programme of the festival includes a meeting with, Anton Vernitsky, correspondent of Pervy Kanal, on the topic "Television and the Internet" and a seminar of Vladimir Kasyutin, secretary of the Union of Journalists of Russia, on the topic "How to keep a reader. Practice of Russian newspapers". After that, a seminar of the National Geographic magazine correspondent Anastasia Klepova, who will speak on quality texts about city travelling, will be held.

On the second day, a seminar of the media coach Sergei Meshavkin entitled "Visual journalism. Short course on newspaper design" will be conducted.

Thus, the programme of the Penza festival is aimed at a narrow circle of media workers – TV and newspaper representatives. Events for journalists who work at radio, in news agencies and Internet-media, as well as for those who publish magazines are not planned.
