Crime rate decreases in Penza

Penza, 25 August 2017. PenzaNews. As a result of the first six month of 2017, a crime rate in Penza decreased. This was said by the acting head of the city department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Nikolai Shishkov when he was giving a report on results of operation activities at the 36th regular session of the City Duma on Friday, August 25.

"Over this period, the operational situation in the territory of the regional centre was characterized by a general statistical reduction of the crime rate by 23.8%," he specified.
Nikolai Shishkov explained that the decrease occurred mainly due to lowering of criminal activity when committing crimes for mercenary ends applying violence.
"Thus, the number of cases of citizens’ property theft decreased by 37.3%, and the number of fraud cases – by 29.9%. In addition, the department registered decrease in the number of grave and gravest crimes by 9.5%, in the number of such offences as intentional bodily harm – by 32.4%, robbery – by 8.3%, theft of property – by 2.8%," he said.
